Studio Owner and Director
Core Jazz, Lyrical and HipHop Instructor
Christy Curtis has been teaching and choreographing in the Raleigh area for the past seventeen years. She attended ECU for dance along with NC State. Christy has judged all over the country for such competitions as Starpower, Star Systems, and OnStage America. Under Christy's direction, her students have gone on to attend prestigious dance schools, appear in Kmart commercials, travel to NY and LA to be in benefit performances for DRA, and appear as an alternate on Star Search. They have also performed in The Edge professional studio's LA scholarship show. Christy has brought in such notable choreographers as Mia Michaels ("So You Think You Can Dance?"), Dee Caspary, Nick Bass (toured with Janet Jackson and Omarion), Tabitha and Napolen D'umo (worked with Beyonce, Ludacris, and Missy Elliott), Joey Pizzi ("Chicago" the movie), and numerous others. Every year Christy brings in top choreographers in the industry for fall and summer workshops. Christy's students have been featured: in Wes Veldink's professional program in NYC at the famous Broadway Dance Center, in films such as "The Marc Pease Experience" and "Bolden", on faculty at SHOCK, and in the Top 10 of Fox's smash hit "So You Think You Can Dance". Christy also choreographed a Dollar Tree Industrial Commercial, where six of her dancers were chosen to perform. Christy is originally from Iowa, but has made Raleigh her home for the past 18 years. She loves the beach and her dog "Parkway"!
Ballet instructor
Eugene Barnes, an apprentice dancer of Carolina Ballet, is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated from The Baltimore School of the Arts, where he studied dance from the age of thirteen. He has attended summer programs at The Dance Theatre of Harlem, Miami City Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet.

Charlene Brickhouse has been teaching tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, hula, belly dancing, swing, modeling, and salsa for the past eighteen years. She has been teaching dance and movement to preschool and special needs children for twenty-six years. Charlene has also worked with Governor Morehead and the International Special Olympics where she was in charge of costuming and one of the backstage managers for over 300 performers. She has designed and made costumes for large performing dance teams in the area for over 12 years. She loves children and is very proud of her own, Angela and Crissy, who have both graduated in dance through Christy Curtis' talent and instruction. She is very excited to be dancing again after a 3-month hiatus from a back injury. This will be her first year at the Complex, and she can't wait to see many new and old faces.
Tara Campbell
Fusion director, Pre-school, Primary and HipHop instructor
Tara Campbell is originally from Latrobe, Pennsylvania where she has studied dance since the age of four under the direction of MaryKay Antus of the Dancer’s Workshop. She is a 2004 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she obtained a B.A. in Communication with a concentration in English Writing. While in college, Tara was the captain of the dance team and competed at a National level. Upon graduation, Tara began coaching the dance team and cheerleading squad at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg until 2005 when she relocated to the Raleigh area. Tara is looking forward to her second year at CC & Co.
Sheril Fenton
Office Staff and Christy's mom
Sheril Fenton was born and raised in Iowa. She grew up on a farm and then moved to Cedar Rapids where she had Christy and worked for 41 years at Square D. She is now retired and has made her new home in Raleigh. She loves the NC weather, but will miss the snow. She loves cooking dinner for Christy and having playdates with their two dogs, Parkway and Baxter. Interesting fact- She went to a 1-room school house growing up in Iowa!

Summer Johnson
Mini Core Tap, Jazz, B/T/J & Acro instructor
Summer is from Wilmington, NC and has been dancing all of her life. She grew up in the competition world where she won numerous overall and prestigious awards plus Teen and Miss Dance of North Carolina with Dance Masters of America. Summer performed nightly in the "One" show at the Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC for four years. She also danced with Stiletto Entertainment performing the world over including Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and all over Europe. Summer appeared as a featured dancer on the hit series "Dawson's Creek". She also performed at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA. Summer has choreographed and taught all over the east coast in addition to judging numberous dance competitions for Star Systems National Talent Competition. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, acrobatics, spanish webb and harness flying. Summer is thrilled to be at the Complex and looks forward to an exciting year!
Eileen Juric
Core Ballet & Movement instructor
Eileen was a principal dancer with the Chicago Lyric Opera Ballet. Under the artistic direction of former New York Ballet prima ballerina, Maria Tallchief, she performed leading roles in numerous Ballenchine ballets with such notable dancers as Jacques d'Amboise, also a former New York City Ballet principal and present founder and director of the National Dance Institute; Ronald Perry of American Ballet Theatre and Dance Theatre of Harlem; Hinton Battle, who won a Tony Award for "Dancin", was the original star of Broadway's "Miss Saigon", and the original "Lion" in the Broadway version of "The Wiz"; and Daniel Baudendistel, principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet Company. She trained on full scholarships at both the Joffrey Ballet School and the School of American Ballet (School of the New York City Ballet).
Miss Eileen also had the great honor of studying with such prominent New York teachers as David Howard, Robert Joffrey, Gerald Arpino, Maggie Black, Finis Jhung, and Zena Rommett. After her performing career, she returned to the Joffrey Ballet School to pursue a teaching career where she trained, assisted and taught in the children's program. She is currently on faculty at the Princeton Ballet School, the official school of the American Repertory Ballet, and feels happy to share with her students the high quality of dance training she was so fortunate to have.
Pre-school and Primary Director / instructor
Sandra Jones is the Director of the CC & Company Dance Complex Preschool and Primary program and an instructor in creative movement, ballet, tap, and jazz. She has been teaching dance in Raleigh since 1996. Sandra has served as a co-presenter in dance education for the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children and has presented children’s dance and creative movement programs throughout Wake County. She also leads the fundraising efforts of CC & Co. on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Sandra received her dance training at The Academy of Dance Arts in Winston-Salem under the direction of Vinnie Frederick. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sandra and her husband Linwood have four children: Elizabeth, Spencer, Aaron, and Margaret.

Caitlin Mundth, currently of Carolina Ballet, studied dance at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and at the Joffrey / New School in New York City. She trained with David Howard for two years while also studying contemporary dance at Paul Taylor and Alvin Ailey. Caitlin has performed with Michigan Opera Theatre, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Opera Company of North Carolina. She came to Raleigh in 2002 to dance with Carolina Ballet from Charleston Ballet Theater.
Cherie Newton
Pre-school and Primary instructor
Cherie Newton has been dancing since she was three years old and grew up dancing in the Raleigh area. She has been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and modern dance and has been teaching preschool dance classes for the past eight years. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro in 2005 with a BA in dance and psychology and is currently a graduate student at ECU for Occupational Therapy.

Melissa will be working in the office handling billing and any other questions you may have. Melissa has worked in customer service for the past nine years. She is sure to greet you with her warm personality and a smile everytime you walk in the door. She is a proud mom to an adorable son, AJ.

Brooke Roberson is a 2005 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications / Media Production. Brooke has been dancing since the age of three and is a former Power Company member of nine years under the instruction of Christy Curtis. While at UNC, Brooke was Jazz Director of Carolina Style, a well-known performance company on campus. Brooke absolutely loves hiphop, but is also a trained jazz, ballet, lyrical, and tap dancer. She has taken dance classes in NYC, where she lived for three summers, and also in LA at The Edge and Millenium. Besides dance, she's pretty much obsessed with her labradoodle Gabby & anything involving photography. Brooke is looking forward to another great year at CC & Co!
Core Tap Director, Jazz, Lyrical and HipHop Instructor
Emily Shoemaker is originally from Long Island, N.Y. and has been studying dance since the age of three. She has had Jazz training with Christy Curtis and intensive Ballet and Jazz with Tommi Galaska and Joe Carow at East Carolina University. At 15, she began touring with the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble under the direction of Gene Medler. The company performed at festivals in Vienna Austria, Rio De Janeiro Brazil, St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, and on Broadway at the New York City Tap Festival in 1999 and 2000 hailed as “The Premier youth Tap Ensemble in the World.” She appeared with the company on the 1998 Tap documentary “JUBA!” still shown on various T.V. stations around the country. She was privileged to perform with and study under such Tap masters as Gregory Hines, Sam Weber, Michelle Dorrance, Donald O’Connor, Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Brenda Bufalino and Tony Award Winner Savion Glover. She studied dance for two intensive months in NYC as well as L.A., eventually developing her own unique style. Emily has been teaching since age 15 and choreographing professionally since age 18. She is excited to be involved with The Complex and looks forward to an amazing year.

MJ grew up in Charlotte, NC where she attended Miss Donna's School of Dance. At the age of 16, she worked with the Women's National Basketball Association's Charlotte Sting. After graduation, she attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After two years of school, she took a hiatus when she was accepted as a scholarship student at the EDGE Perfroming Arts Center in Hollywood, CA. Upon graduation from the EDGE, she booked an agent and began working. She has worked on a Panasonic industrial, Bring it on Yet Again: All or Nothing, Missy Elliott's 'We Run This', Blood Arm's 'Say Yes', company work with Lula Washington Dance Theater, Carnivals, and several performances in the city. In January of 2006, MJ returned to the UNCG to complete her degree as a BFA in dance with an emphasis on choreography and performence. During spring break of 2006, she was selected by Nigel's wife at EDGE to audition for season 2 of So You Think You Can Dance. She made it to the top 42 (top 22 girls)! MJ recently graduated from UNCG with a BFA in dance; including a concentration in choreography and performance. MJ was booked for the "Bolden" movie during her last semester of school with Tony-award winning choreographer, Hinton Battle. MJ has studied in a university and commercial setting diversifying her style in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, tap, hip hop/jazz funk and ballroom. Her teachers vary from Brian Friedman, Dave Scott, Adam Parsons, Duane Cyrus, BJ Sullivan, Bill Prudich, Tovaris Wilson, Leslie Scott, Liz Imperio and Christy Curtis!
